CD-ROM AND MULTIMEDIA HIGHWAY:

  6.      CD burners are used for reading and writing .
What do you mean by DVD?
  1.     Multi layered Digital Versatile Disc.
  2.     has optical technology with capacity of 18 GB.
  3.     DVD burners are used for reading and writing.
  4.     DVD authoring and integration software allows the creation of interactive front end menus for films and games.

Describe Briefly about the Multimedia Highway.
CD-ROM versus Data Highway:
  • CD-Rom and DVD discs are replaced by the data highway which makes the user to feel better  connected.
  • These data highways are made up of copper wire,glass fiber,radio/cellular technologies.
  • These are used as most common delivery means for interactive multimedia files,which are served across the broadband Internet or from dedicated computer farms and storage facilities.
Distributed resources:
         Telecommunication networks are global and the information elements are given as distributed 
resources on data highway using link up online,to acquire pay and use multimedia based information.

Service Providers:
        Glass fiber cables make much of the physical back bone of the data highway owned by 
railroads and pipe line companies who buried the cable on existing rights of way and bandwidth on 
these lines are leased to others,competing retailers such as Airtel, Aircel, JIO..share the same cable

Multimedia delivers:
  1.            full -text content form books,magazines is accessible by modem and electronic link.
  2.            movies are played at home
  3.    real-time news reports from anywhere on earth are available
  4.    lectures from universities are monitored for education credits.
  5.    street maps of any city are view able.
Multimedia Growth:
  1.  Entertainment companies that own content easily converted to multimedia projects are teaming up with cable TV companies.
  2. Film studios are creating new divisions to produce interactive multimedia.
